First harvest of the season

One of the best reasons to grow radishes is that they are one of the quickest to harvest. This year they seemed to do very well with the first batch picked on 5/21/2012.  Large and a nice shade of red.  They have a bit of a kick to them when eaten as well.  Not a big favorite with the family.  Julia is the only one who will eat them by themselves with Karen tolerating them in salads.

I seem to have a bit of a pill bug pest problem this year and when I picked these radishes, I noticed that there were a number of pill bugs crawling around and nibbling the outside of the radishes.  I’m hoping that they don’t get worse and move on to any of the other vegetables.  Actually, they are my prime suspects in the Lima Bean massacre so I better stay vigilant.
